the cost of living in lake bronwood texas is quite low compared to the rest of texas and the country.

property tax is extremly high on the lake front property comapered to most people who work here. a lot of retired people from the big oil companies who do live here can probably afford the high tax but, seem to be uncomfortable with the property tax.

theres very few businesses in lake brownwood. population is about 800
most of the major businesses are in brownwood, super wal-mart and home depot
who at this time have a national hiring freeze for full and part time people.
the two largest industries are the 3-m plant and kohler who are just taking applications at this time and no guarantee of any futrue employment.
as matter of fact my wife works at walmart and they have been cutting everyones hours down from full to part time. the word is out that walmart is slowly probably doing away with all full time and going to part time which my understanding is that part time is anything less than 35 hours. i have a step son who just moved here from phoenix arizona and he has not been able to find any work period and he has almost ten years as a cashier in convient stores.

people are very friendly and open with other new comers and very easy to get aquainted with. just about everyone in walmart welcomes you to the Brownwood area.

the climate is great in the summer and winter getting upto about a max (sometimes) of 105 degrees and i've been here three years and i've seen it down to about 15 degrees in the winter. most of the summers never exceed above 95 degrees and the winters are very mild at about 35-40 degrees in dec, jan, feb. lots of picnic grounds and a state park at lake brownwood very hilly and some small mountains in the area . lots of oak trees and mesqute. and elm trees . very much green. lots of long horn cows , goats, sheep ducks cranes deer. at lake brownwood the deer come up in droves during the early morn, and even hours and some times will eat you flowers around the houses. we also have a few armadillos, snakes of course and our favorite little smelly critters skunks!

hope this is somewhat helpful to your reviews.
